Dr. Amy Bandy is a breast lift plastic surgeon, serving locations Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach. Dr. Amy T Bandy states that “breast lift is performed to give the breast a more rejuvenated youthful look bringing the breast higher on the chest wall.” Dr. Bandy says that “there are various incisions used to lift the breast depending on how much drooping there is and how much loss of volume in the breast.” Dr. Amy Bandy goes on to explain that “sometimes when the breast are lifted at the same time they are doing a breast augmentation with an implant minimal breast incision can be done just around the nipple or sometimes even just the upper portion of the nipple.” ”When the breasts are very saggy and the breast tissue lies low on the breast wall, then typically they’ll need what’s called a light pattern or keyhole type incision where the incision goes around the nipple straight down in a vertical dimension and then going into the breast fold,” says Dr. Amy Bandy. “By performing this incision you are able to remove and tighten a lot more of the skin and bring the breast tissue higher up on the chest wall allowing for a more natural round and youthful looking breast,” explains Dr. Amy Bandy.
Dr. Amy T. Bandy then goes on to explain the anesthetic process. Dr. Amy T. Bandy states that “breast lift can be done under a local anesthetic or under a general one depending on the patient’s preference that is quite tolerable and that’s not as invasive a procedure as a reduction or an augmentation so it can typically be done under a local with a patient being quite comfortable.”
Regarding recovery time, many people can have a breast lift on a Friday and be back to work on Monday if they do not have a very physical job so it is a pretty quick recovery, says Dr. Amy Bandy. “Anytime when you have any kind of incision that requires stitches, it takes about six weeks to have wound strength, tensile strength for the wound, and it takes 6 to 9 months to have 80% of the tensile strength of what a natural skin has before it’s been cut,” describes Dr. Amy Bandy. Dr. Amy Bandy says “you cannot really play very vigorous contact sports for that 6 weeks post op; if someone does it you in an area that’s been cut, that would not be ideal for healing.”
Due to Dr. Amy Bandy’s success in breast lift surgery, Dr. Bandy plans to open offices soon in San Francisco and Las Vegas.
